Friel Exteriors Inc. Stucco and Stone Remediation Repair

Next to the plastering industry, Natural Stone Veneer (thin) is our largest market. When stone veneer is applied correctly it can significantly enhance the aesthetic appearance and add to the value of your property. There are three main types of stone. Natural Stone, Natural Stone Veneer (thin), and Manufactured Stone Veneer.

Natural Stone Veneer:

Natural stone veneer is a thinner version of the full thickness natural stone. It is a precise and consistent cut of the full thickness natural stone which makes it lighter and cheaper to install. Like the full thickness natural stone it is weather resistant, it never fades in color and it requires little to no maintenance work. But unlike the full thickness natural stone it does not need the addition of a structural support at the foundation level. A drainage system must be applied in the wall assembly for maximum moisture prevention. By doing this any trapped dampness or moisture can be expelled from the system. At the same time ventilation will allow air to circulate and subsequently keep the wall dry. Natural stone veneer is very affordable.

Manufactured Stone Veneer:

Manufactured stone veneer is created to replicate the look of natural stone. It is manufactured using a lightweight concrete mix placed into rubber molds to form different shapes and sizes. A permanent dye is applied and absorbed by the stone when it is cast. Although the color may fade over the years. Manufactured stone veneers are less expensive than natural stone and come in a wide range of colors. This product is light in weight so it is easier to work with and faster to install. This product is not as strong as natural stone.
